Oliver's the whole package of tall, dark and mysterious.
LONG VERSION
As a father of two boys and a husband of his high school sweetheart, Oliver nurses somewhat of a two-edged personality.
On one hand, he's incredibly charming, confident, humorous and clever.
On the other, his confidence can topple over into arrogance territory, he has a very unattractive tendency to be abrasive and an even more unattractive knack for secrecy.
At the core of him, Oliver is actually a self-loathing, closeted bisexual who grew up with a homophobic father, but proceeded to meet and consequently leave the love of his life a summer long ago, when he was twenty-four and the other boy seventeen.
Now, he does everything in his power to cling to the life he has made for himself, but struggles with great regrets and a sexuality that is still not being fulfilled. His relationship with his wife, whom he's been married to for twenty years, has taken on the nature of a partnership more than a romantic relationship while his two children are away at boarding school.
He teaches at a university in New Hampshire, but is currently on sabbatical in New York. His field of expertise is Ancient Greek philosophy, as well as Ancient Greek culture and language. He's the kind of professor who's always more up to date on the newest research than on the most recent football match. Although he does take an interest in culture like theatre and cinema.
Oliver is the sporty type, going for a run every morning and taking yoga classes. However, he's also a foodie who drinks too much and doesn't sleep enough, so it's mostly a way to keep his bad habits from showing.
